Italian Renaissance in Le Marche: Urbino e Urbania
Urbino represents one of the most important cradles of the Italian Renaissance. Thanks to the Duke Federico da Montefeltro, the city was permeated by a fertile and artistic atmosphere, and by important cultural exchanges as much of antiquity was rediscovered. This experience will start right from Urbino, with a guided tour of the city, and will continue with a transfer to nearby Urbania, a city that since the Renaissance, produces beautiful and amazing Maiolica Pottery masterpieces. Here, we will visit a maiolica workshop and/or the unique “Church of the Dead” Museum, where bodies and skeletons dating back to 1567 are housed. The whole story of these bodies and their perfect mummification is waiting to be discovered!
