The Malacological Museum of Cupra Marittima, founded in 1977 is one of the world's largest museum of this kind. There's a three thousand meters exhibition space, boasting more than seven hundred thousand pieces and over seven million shells. Special exhibition areas are dedicated to fossil shells and to a collection of shellfish instruments.
The museum includes a library with over three thousand thematic volumes, a photo lab, a conference room and a lecture hall.
