The Da Varano Fortress is located on spur, and it is only fortress of the defensive system of the Da Varano family.The fortress was built after 1274 by Gentile da Varano for the protection of his territory. The main entrance to the castrum is on the north side and it is surmounted by the fortress. The interior is divided into four narrow ways, the most important links the main entrance of the castle to the square where there is the parish church dedicated to Saint Michael Archangel. In the square in front of the church, there were the town hall which still shows the stone coat with a rooster above the door.
