Arranged inside the Kursaal room, this Museum of Comic Illustration had been one of the most popular rendezvous of the 60s in the Adriatic Riviera. A rich collection of artworks is preserved and exhibited here, including drawings, movie posters, cartoons and satirical illustrations signed by well-known Italian artists and cartoonists. Thanks to the fortunate festival “Umorismo nell’Arte” (Humor in Art) the MIC Museum gained a considerable heritage of works, among which those of Dario Fo, Milo Manara, Sergio Staino, Tanino Liberatore and Angelo Maria Ricci stand out. Many of them pay homage to Roberto Benigni, Massimo Troisi, Federico Fellini, Sophia Loren and Fabrizio De André. This year a monographic room has been dedicated to Angelo Maria Ricci, resident of Grottammare and popular comic-book illustrator, since he is the author of well-known Italian comics like Martyn Mistère and Diabolik. During these years numerous individual and public exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography have given and still give a boost to the cultural environment of our city.
