Most probably it’s the oldest abbey in the Esino valley. It was founded some centuries before the year 1000 because of the migration of monks to the Esino valley. Due to the dedication to the saint bishop of Ravenna, it’s connected to the 6^th- 7^th century Byzantine dominion of Ravenna, then it became bordering land between the Byzantines and the Lombards. Between the 13^th and 14^th century it was in its heyday: the abbots coming from this abbey were charged with the collection of the tithes from the dioceses on behalf of the Church. In the 14^th century its decline started.  In the 16^th century it was abandoned by the monks and it was joined to the cathedral of Jesi. The 13^th century church has a single nave with a flat apse and trussed vaulting. The hut- shaped façade has a central part slightly protruding where a Gothic portal with above a blind arcade can be seen. The belfry, the arches and the frames are not the original ones and were renovated in 1928. Inside the church is very simple and there’s only a 15th century fresco which was renovated in 1974. It represents the Madonna and Child with the Saints Apollinare and Anthony the Abbot and a Crucifixion in the lunette.
