Parco Museo Minerario delle Miniere di Zolfo delle Marche e dell'Emilia-Romagna

Founded in 2005 by the Ministry of Ecological Transition with the Ministry of Culture and the Marche Region, the Park, which also holds the qualification of Ecomuseum, promotes conservation, recovery, study and enhancement of the environmental, architectural, landscape, historical, cultural and technical-scientific heritage of the Marche and Emilia-Romagna mining sites which between the 19th and 20th centuries represented sulfur extraction poles of European importance.
In addition to co-financing relevant projects, e.g. the archaeological mining area in Cabernardi (Sassoferrato) and the Sulphur Museum in Perticara (Novafeltria), the Park cultivates, through cultural, scientific and educational projects, the memory of generations of miners whose work was at the basis of the development of the national chemical sector.
The national law 160/2019 extended the Park's competence to the Emilia-Romagna Region. Today the Park protects mines, processing sites, archives and historical heritage located within the Marche-Romagna sulfur basin in Arcevia and Sassoferrato; Pergola and Urbino; Novafeltria, Sant’Agata Feltria, Talamello; Cesena.
The registered office is in Sassoferrato, the operational one in Pesaro, the technical-scientific committee in Novafeltria.
