A little out of town (just 2 km) is located the monumental complex of Santa Maria delle Grazie, commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere as a thanksgiving to the grace of a male heir. Works began according to the the project by Baccio Pontelli in 1490, but ended only in 1684, with the last heir of the Della Rovere dynasty. The original design of the complex included two large cloisters, only one of them was kept in the expected size, whereas the other was reduced. the current cloisters retain lunettes frescoed with images of the life of S. Francesco, built by Petrus Fanciscus Renulfus, a painter from Novara in 1598. Inside the Church, more precisely in the apse, it is to report a Madonna and Saints, the beautiful table by Perugino, dating back to around 1490 depicting Mary, seated on a throne with some Saints at her sides: S. Giovanni Battista, S. Ludovico and S. Francesco on her left; S. Pietro, S. Paolo and S. Giacomo on her right. The apse houses two paintings both focused on the glorification of Mary. before it was transferred to the National Gallery in Urbino, even the famous "Madonna of Senigallia" by Piero della Francesca was visible in the Church. Now of this painting only a reproduction made by Nello Latini in the jubilee of the year 2000 can be seen.At present the castle houses an excellent museum of the history of sharecropping, founded in 1978 and documents the everyday life and work in the countryside of the Marche region in the first half of the twentieth century.
