Polverigi (AN)This exhibition sums up ritual songs of begging, very common in Central Italy. The version of this hymn of great historical value and contemporary to some sacred representations of the 12th Century, has remained faithful to text and music of that time. The words tell of the death of Christ, but the pace tells of resurrection. In fact, the week before Easter, on "Palm Sunday", the "Passion" is performed by an accordion player or an organ grinder and two "singers" singing alternate verses and accompanied by an harpsichord and eardrums. So groups of singers bring the song from house to house as a wish for health, wealth and abundance, in return for food and wine for the dinner closing the festival.
