Apecchio nestles deep in the Apennines and borders on the province of Pesaro-Urbino and the province of Perugia. It is situated in the middle of a large municipal area, which covers 103 square metres, including the peak of Monte Nerone (m.1526). The hump-back medieval bridge leads to the village; passing the 15th century arch you'll find the large bell tower. The ancient Palazzo Ubaldini (now Town Hall), designed by the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, is a nice example of Renaissance architecture with its sixteenth century arcaded courtyard and its underlying ice house, now used as a "Museum of Fossils and Minerals of Monte Nerone" and an "International Centre for Geo Cartographic Studies". The Shrine of the Holy Cross, the early Romanesque parish church of San Martino, now houses important works, such as the statue of the seventeenth century carved wood and a painting  portraying the Madonna del Carmelo between the Dukes Della Rovere and the Counts Ubaldini beside a number of seventeenth century paintings. The Church of Our Lady of Life (XVI century) is particulary interesting: it boasts a beautiful wooden crucifix dating back to the fifteeenth century. Further tourist attractions are: the Jewish Quarter, with its characteristic alley of the Jews, that is considered as one of Italy's narrowest alleys, and the municipal theatre, built in 1876. Not far from Apecchio is Colombara, well known for its famous Peace Globe, built in wood, with three floors that can accommodate up to six hundred people. It is a globe of 10 meters in diameter able to imitate the Earth's rotation; for its exceptional size it is included in the Guinness World Records. Near Apecchio is Serravalle di Carda (m.750), a small village perched on the slopes of Monte Nerone, where you can head out on hiking trails or go horseback riding throughout the Nerone area. Apecchio belongs to the ''National Association of Beer City". The most important event taking place in Apecchio is the National Festival of Alogastronomia (June), the first festival in Italy entirely dedicated to craft beer and local quality products. In October there's the "Truffle Market and the products of the wood".
