Grottammare is a small resort on the southern Marche "Riviera delle Palme”; it boasts 5 km of fine sandy beach. Along with the many palm trees that line the seafront, bright flower beds and well-kept lawns give the place great charm. Bike lovers have a wide cycling path at their disposal, running for about 20 km. Its traffic-free promenade is backed by some splendid examples of seaside Liberty architecture - grand villas dating back to the turn of the last century. The Medieval old village up above the main resort is surrounded by wall and has fine old buildings and an ancient theatre.
