Monte San Vito is located on the left side of the Vallesina, at the heart of a rectangle consisting of Morro d’Alba, Monsano, Chiaravalle and Montemarciano, 25 km far from Ancona. Monte San Vito hosts the St. Peter Apostle Collegiate Church in which paintings by Giovanni Lazzarini, Filippo Bellini and a painting showing the Virgin and child are preserved; Malatesta Palace which is the seat of the municipality and hosts paintings by Scipione Daretti in 18th century; “La Fortuna” condominial theatre was obtained from a mill and transformed into a concert hall in 1757-1758; an old Oil Mill, which is the symbol of the civilization and culture of Monte San Vito.
The territory is ideal for olive oil production with organic certification. The municipality gained the “Green Flag for Agriculture” award and it is among the founding members of the National Association of Oil Town.
During the year, the most important events are: the Saint Vito Fair (in June), the beer Festival (in September), the autumn Festival (in November), where it is possible to taste the local cuisine and the “good oil”.
