The town was originally a maritime center and a trading post for agricultural products from the fertile Val D'Aso; it later became a popular tourist destination, thanks to clean and safe bathing and a rich marine flora and fauna, particularly suitable for diving. The area in front of the lighthouse draws the attention of scuba divers for maritime archaeological finds. The sandy and gravel beaches are partially interrupted by rocks. Taking the "panoramic street", you reach Monte Serrone, an area with a bushy vegetation and different paths in an unspoilt environment. The "Mussels Festival", that has been organized for thousands of years, takes place in August.
