Auditore overlooks the Foglia valley. It’s on a rocky spur which is pictorially placed on a slope which has a one hundred metre drop.
Many archaeological finds attest to the presence of ancient settlements of Umbrians, Picenes and from the 4th century of Senonian Gauls.
In the lower Middle Ages Auditore, after being ruled by the House of Malatesta from Rimini, passed to the Counts Ridolfi, delegates of the town of Rimini, who rebelled against their lords in 1289 and were therefore severely punished by Malatestino dell’Occhio.
The fortified village is still surrounded by the intact defensive walls and the historic centre still boasts some angular bastions and a 15th century hexagonal civic tower.
In the hamlet Casinina you can visit the Museum of the Gothic Line, the first and most important museum in its genre in central Italy. It documents the attack of the British Army against the German defensive line in the Italian Campaign of World War II. Books, videos, 20th century documents, historical archives, a Park with a War Memorial and the exhibition of many original military vehicles are at the disposal of visitors.
Throughout the year many food events are organized in Casinina: the certified steak from the Marche, between May and June, recently in August the IGP ( Protected Geographical Indication) meat; in October two dates for the Baccanale: one with traditional sausages (Sagra della Salsiccia Casereccia ) and “I Giorni del Baccanale”, some sort of Bacchanal popular festival.
