Castelraimondo - Piani di Crispiero - Monte d'Aria

Piani di Crispiero (Crispiero Plains), about 750 meters above sea level, are named after the nearby homonymous borough belonging to the Castelraimondo municipality. The area around them consists of a wide, isolated mountainous and hilly natural territory, which extends to the nearby Serrapetrona municipality. It is rich with history, medieval castles and watch towers too: the two most famous ones are called Famula and Guardia, and were the keys of the defence system of the Duchy of Camerino, which reached down to the valleys of the Chienti and Potenza rivers. From the slopes of Mount d’Aria (956 meters above sea level) the area extends down to  St. Eustachio ditch and Valle dei Grilli (“Valley of Crickets”) and offers a wide panorama, ranging from the Appennine mountains down to the sea, beyond the soft hills of Marche and the villages and hamlets scattered all around.
