Serafino is a shepard who takes care of his aunt and uncle’s flock. After returning from the military service, he becomes his Lidia’s lover (his cousin), and Asmara’s lover, who is a prostitute mother of four children. After his aunt’s death, he inherits everything and wants to share his heritage with his friends, but this makes his uncle angry, therefore Serafino changes his mind. At end of the movie, Serafino fixes his complex relationship situation.

The movie is about Saint Francis of Assisi’s life, from his departure for the Perugia War to the establishment of the monastic rule, his return home and his religious vocation and the abandonment of all his goods.

Monti Sibillini’s area offers to visitors a breathtaking landscape; tourists are in close contact with nature and surrounded by mountains. The Sibillini Mountains are between the Marche and Umbria regions, more specifically along the Appennines between Umbria and the Marche, and many peaks are over 2,000 metres high: among them there are the Mount Vettore (2,476 metres).  For this suggestive and mountain landscape, this area has always been chosen as the perfect location for many Italian movies; for exemple  in the 1960-1970 the Sibillini Mountains National Park was the set for two movies.In 1968, Pietro Germi directed Adriano Celentano in one of his first masterpieces, Serafino. In 1972, Franco Zeffirelli was enthusiastic about this location, perfect for the movie Brother Sun, Sister Moon which is about Saint Francis of Assisi’s life.
