The traditional "Festival of the Vow" in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows is representative of the close link between Ortezzano and its past. It is also through the Infiorata (Flower Festival) held in the first ten mostly sunny days in June, meant as a spectacular prayer made of flowers and colors as a representation of great devotion, that the deep bond with the Virgin Mary is underlined. On Sunday, in the early hours of the morning, groups of young Infioratori volunteers start realizing the Flower Show from in front the church of St. Mary, as a sign of devotion, and continuing along a path of the solemn procession, crossing the old town.
Kneeling on the ground "as in prayer", the Infioratori lay flowers cutting petal by petal and give life to amazing carpets and paintings using flowers fresh and dried, chopped and multicolored, and adorn the narrow and characteristic streets of the old town. This all lasts until the Mass begins, followed by the solemn procession in which the image of Our Lady of the Sorrow passes over the multicolored carpets.
