Rifugio Casale Saliere is located by the slopes of Monte Fema, nearby the imposing Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta di Fematre, in the Visso municipality, a XI century church, and at the limit of the characteristic Montagna di Torricchio State Reservation, a place dedicated to the study of endemic flora and fauna. Getting there is possible only on foot, along a comfortable path which reaches up to the building, in a green mountain landscape, after walking for about 40 minutes. A path crosses the Valnerina valley, through the hamlet of Orvano; another one is the Sentiero Natura (Nature Path), from Fematre or from Torricchio, in a landscape where slopes are not too steep, between beautiful meadows in bloom which make the place both sweet and wild. Round mountain tops, grazing land and blossoming flowers make the land around the lodge charming: an area which, being not very famous, is also very peaceful. Far from all kinds of human interference, the lodge is a unique place to spend some relaxing and peaceful days. Open only upon reservation, it consists of one single and one double bedroom, bathrooms with flowing water and a kitchenette. The total number of beds is twelve. Starting from the lodge, excursions on foot can be made to discover the naturalistic treasures of Torricchio Mountain and Monte Fema. In the surroundings many such hamlets and villages can be visited as Riofreddo, in the Visso municipality; in a short time the Valnerina Valley can be reached. In front of Casale Saliere do also pass through the Sentiero Italia (Italy Sentry), a path which runs along the whole axis of the Country, and Sentiero Europa (Europe Sentry), as the lodge is a leg of theirs.
