Staffolo - Church of S. Francesco - former Convent

Located within the city walls, the church, built in the second half of the thirteenth century, has a beautiful raised portal. The interior, rebuilt in Baroque style, has a single nave. The current structure has a triumphal arch and the apse half–dome. Here are works of great prestige: the Eternal Father and four Saints by Maffeo Verona (1576-1618), Madonna and Saints by Filippo Bellini (1530 -1603), other Baroque paintings, in one of which is a depiction of Staffolo in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The organ of the famous organ builder from Venice Gaetano Callido was restored in 1989 with the support of the Marche Region. Outside the Medieval bell tower built above the sloping base of a pre-existing tower.
