The village is situated on a hill at an altitude of 405 metres and is birthplace of the famous musician Gaspare Spontini. The medieval historic centre has small alleys and series of steps, which evoke a former peace and tranquility. 

In the church of San Giovanni is the grave of Gaspare Spontini, adorned by a medallion with the image of the composer, by Antonio Canova. The church of S. Anna or della Cancellata preserves a sixteenth-century fresco with the image of the Madonna che allatta il Bambino (Breastfeeding Madonna). The Celeste local park was part of Gaspare Spontinis' property and it was named after his wife's name, according to his own will. From the balcony of the park you can enjoy a nice view over the Esino valley up to the Adriatic Sea.

A very famous music festival called Pergolesi Spontini Festival is dedicated to Gaspare Spontini and to Giovan Battista Pergolesi, who was born in nearby Jesi.   It take splace in September and it attracts many people.
