Rossini, Spontini, Pergolesi: the great musicians were born in the Marche region and influenced European music. Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868) was from Pesaro, Giovan Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736) was from Jesi; Gaspare Spontini (1774-1851) was born in Maiolati, now called Maiolati Spontini.
