Valfornace is a municipality in the province of Macerata; it was established on 1 January 2017 from the former municipalities of Fiordimonte and Pievebovigliana. The capital of the municipality is Pievebovigliana. Part of the town is included in the Sibillini Mountains National Park.
In the upper part of Pievebovigliana stands  the fine Romanesque parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, later restored in Neoclassical style, boasting a nice crypt. You can't miss the 'Pievebovigliana Museum'; there are different sections: the Archaeological Museum 'Valerio Cianfarani', the Civic Museum 'Raffaele Campelli', the Historical Museum of the Territory", the collection Maria Ciccotti and Gino Marotta Collection and a fortepiano that belonged to the Marche composer Filippo Marchetti. The Historical Museum of the Territory documents the economic and social history of the area; particular attention is given to domestic weaving, with tablecloths and paintings dating back to the fifteenth century. A special section is dedicated to Varnelli distillery. A must-see attraction is also the industrial archeological site of fulling mill - Cianni dyeing, whose original building dates back to the seventeenth century. It is a rare and important example of production of manufacturing linked to the fulling of woolen cloth, later colored with natural dyes. In the territory of Pievebovigliana you can't miss two interesting sites: the Castle of Beldiletto, converted into a Renaissance villa in the fifteenth century, and the Romanesque Church of San Giusto, in San Maroto. Near Pievebovigliana there's the Romanesque bridge of Pontelatrave , built upon the Roman foundations of the first century A.D. In Pontelatrave area is the Convent of St. Francis. The church dates back to the fourteenth century and boasts some frescoes attributed to Cola di Pietro. Few miles from Pievebovigliana are two nice lakes: Lake Polverina and Lake Boccafornace. In Fiordimonte the Church of San Antonio and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, in Romanesque style, built in the thirteenth century, are worth visiting. The most popular craft in the area is weaving; delicious meat, cheese, organic lamb, truffles, honey, brown trout and chestnuts are some of the typical products. Well-known is mistrà, or aniseed liquer; it is most appreciated both as a “ digestivo” after meal and as an added dash of liquor to coffee.
