“Upside-down” is the title of this new event beginning in 2016 recalls the universal theme of the overthrow, typical of the Carnival; of things that are inverted, that switch places and overturn but also of the upper village in eternal competition with the one at sea. This all is Upside-down; the first Carnival of the cities of Fermo and Porto San Giorgio that sums up the ancient traditions of Fermo , which Carnival with origins dating back to the 18th Century was re-established 27 years ago and that of Porto San Giorgio that for the past 20 years has been organizing moments of great and colorful popular participation. This "new" Carnival is not a sum of past events but a multiplier and a generator of new ones: the 2016 program provides for processions with thousands of people in mask, many initiatives and events, performances in the city market areas, dinners and balls, games in squares and theatres and least but not last is a  funny "battle" with the cousins of the Carnival of Ascoli, this last an event fully dedicated to clowns and with shows of art comedy on city buses connecting the two towns.  Always present  are the traditional masks of Mengone Torcicolli as well as the reveller King Carnival and its forever enemy Queen Lent, that on Shrove Tuesday will be there watching the King when burning on that fire that puts an end to any event. This event represents therefore a challenge for both municipalities, that are preparing to face it with renewed enthusiasm and the will to give to the territory of Fermo  an original Carnival and able to be mentioned as one of the big events that the Marche Region offers its visitors.
