Land of passage for hermit monks and for bandits, Vetice was the last village on the ancient road which connected the Tenna and Nerina valleys. In times when the mountains were  a real source of prosperity, here passed coalmen, shepherds leading their flocks to get through the winter in the farmland near Rome, people who went to Castelluccio in search of work, wayfarers who out of devotion or for business headed for Rome, and brigands as well, who in order to rob their victims clambered between Mount Priora, the queen of Sibillini Mountains, and Mount Sybil passing by St. Leonardo hermitage, which hangs from a rock right above the Infernaccio canyon. Vetice survived its long trip in history and is now a borough in the Montefortino municipality. From the fields of Vetice, precisely from Fonte Vecchia, starts the track which recalls the passage of all those people. It leads to the most beautiful and engaging climb to Monte Priora which, 2332 meters above sea level, is the second highest of the Sibillini Mountains after Mount Vettore.
