Cycling along the Riviera of the 12,000 palm trees (Bike path)
San Benedetto del Tronto- Cupra Marittima
A route along the bike path that leads from the roundabout of Porto d’Ascoli to Cupra Marittima, not far from the World Exhibition of Malacology (Mostra mondiale di Malacologia).
The route is completely flat and shaded by palm trees of more than 13 different varieties, hence the name given to this coastal stretch of the Riviera. They include the world’s largest palm tree, which is also mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records, with a base circumference of 4.74 metres. It’s in San Benedetto del Tronto, a seaside town which has been awarded the Blue Flag many times.
The route starts here and continues until Grottammare, where you can visit the medieval town centre and many churches. Finally it ends in Cupra Marittima, where you can see the largest collection of seashells from all over the world.
