Tolentino - Archaeological Museum of the Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra

The Abbey of Chiaravalle di Fiastra is in the heart of Fiastra Abbey Nature Reserve. The Abbey was founded by the Cistercian monks coming from the Abbey of Chiaravalle in Milan in 1142. When building the monastery they used building materials taken from the nearby Roman town of Urbs Salvia. The archaeological collection displays finds from the ancient town of Urbs Salvia, the surrounding area and from the Abbey itself; there are inscriptions, architectonic decorations and fragments of statues.
