The museum, founded in 1985 by the “Giustiniani Bandini” Foundation and located in the former guesthouse of the Monastery of Santa Maria di Chiaravalle, covers an area of three hundred square meters. It features objects and instruments used for domestic and rural purposes. The collection comprises various kinds of materials. These include looms, spinning machines, wine-presses, wine-making objects, wooden ploughs (“perticari”), a seeder, a mower, painted carts, yokes, sieves, carpenter’s planes and axes, and games. The museum offers a broad insight into life as a share-cropper, the rural landscape and farmhouse furnishings (kitchen, bedroom, cellars, weaving and silkworm nursery) with a generous display of photographs and materials.
