Marche in Montagna

Mountains province Ascoli Piceno

Monte Ascensione (1,110 m.) is a relief of  the Marche's sub-Apennines, located entirely in the province of Ascoli Piceno. It straddles the valleys of the Tronto, Aso and Tesino rivers. From the peak of the mountain you can enjoy a woderful panorama that ranges from the Sibillini mountains to the Gran Sasso and Maiella, up to the Adriatic Sea.

Monte Vettore (2,476 m.) is the great limestone massif that stands in the southern Marche, including one of the highest peaks on the Italian mainland ; it is included in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains. Close to the top is a glacial cirque with a high tarn called Lake Pilato. Its mountainous arc also includes Quarto San Lorenzo, Cima del Redentore, Cima del Lago, Monte Vettoretto, the Vettore itself and Monte Torrone. From the summit of the mountain you can enjoy the view of the Gran Sasso and the Monti della Laga to the south-east, the Terminillo to the south-west, the Sirente-Velino to the south-west, the Monti Gemelli, the Marche coast and the Adriatic to the East. Monte Vettore offers many attractions to mountaineers, thanks to the huge rocky walls and crags in its eastern side.

The Monti della Laga are the fifth highest mountain massif in the continental Apennines, as well as the highest sandstone relief of the Apennines, located in the central Abruzzo Apennines, straddling the Abruzzo region (province of L'Aquila and Teramo), Lazio (province of Rieti) and Marche (province of Ascoli Piceno). The massif is included in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.
