Marche in montagna

Marche in the mountain

Spending a holiday in the mountains is a unique experience in the Marche; in summer tourists enjoy discovering delightful villages in the hinterland, venturing into long walks and excursions and tasting the delicacies of an area full of genuine flavors.
In winter time, everything hinges around traditions, the small villages become nativity scenes. The snow-capped peaks are ready to accommodate adults and children on the ski slopes, snow parks and shelters.
The Apennine that crosses the Marche is called Umbrian-Marche Apennine, and includes five folds, curved and parallel, of which four involve the Marche region. 31% of the Marche region is mountainous. The main reliefs are: to the West the Umbrian-Marchigiano Apennines, the highest peak is Monte Pennino 1570 m., to the South the Sibillini Mountains, the highest peaks are Monte Priora (2,332 m) and Monte Vettore (2,476 m).
