The Medieval hilly town of Castelraimondo is an incomparable example of perfect harmony of new and old architectures: in the old town centre stands the Cassero, a mighty crenellated tower, what remains of the largest 13th C. medieval fortress, surrounded by a double moat and once fortified with impressive bastions; other parts of the old building have been incorporated in the parish house; moreover a tower has been transformed into the bell tower of San Biagio’s church,  and part of the ancient city walls  have been merged with the town hall, built in the nineteenth century.  Not far from Castelraimondo is the Castle of Lanciano (due to the earthquake occurred in 2016, the castle is temporarily closed), built between 1350 and 1418; the interior, which is currently unusable, contains collections of paintings and halls decorated with stucco works.  From its crenellated towers you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the surrounding hills, flecked with all shades of green. Not to be missed is the Flower Carpet occurring on the first Sunday after the Trinity Sunday religious feast.
