A study upon the “Vascular flora” revealed the presence of such rare species as the sea flax, which grows nowhere else in Marche. Also important is the presence of reeds and of cliff carrots.
In autumn, precisely because of its position by the Adriatic sea and of the extended presence of deciduous trees, the Park offers a fantastic show of warm colours, enriched by the contrast with the blue sea.
Indeed, while walking in the Park we can find, into water gaps where some humidity remains even during the hottest months, white or black poplars, which in Autumn surround their light and slender trunks with golden leaves, the same colour that dresses the leaves of the “weeping” branches of willows, which are however less common than poplars. The shade changes from yellow to orange on the thick crown of oaks, hornbeams, elms and of more rare Turkey oaks, which can all be found in the hinterland area. We finally find bright red colour on the thin leaves of trees of heaven and of acacias, exotic species which colonized these woods.
