Amandola - Rifugio Città di Amandola

“Rifugio Cittàdi Amandola”is open all the year round. It is located by the slopes of Amandola Mountain, 1,200 meters above sea level. From there, a beautiful panorama can be admired, embracing the whole region, stretching from Monte Conero up to Gran Sasso Mountain. It is possible to reach to the lodge by car taking the Grande Anello dei Sibillini road. It offers overnight stays and a restaurant service, with typical and traditional products. Excursions on foot or mountain bike can be made moving from the lodge to the Ambro river springs, to Monte Castel Manardo, Pizzo Tre Vescovi, Mount Priora. For lovers of trekking, it is worth mentioning a track about 170 kilometers long which circumvents the Sibillini mountains and clambers between canyons, valleys, mountain tops and such historic towns as Amandola and Fiastra. Of course, it is also possible staying at the lodge to spend a fully relaxing and peaceful day and, in the wintertime, taking the cross-country skiing track to get up to Vallecaprina and its characteristic beech tree wood. Lovers of nature and open air, may discover the environment and territory of the Sibillini Mountains Park through specific and amusing activities suitable for the whole family, both children and adults, by visiting the nearby Adventure Parks: rafting, orienteering, archery, hydro speed, naturalistic tours on boat, trekking, paragliding and biking tours. Those who would rather mind natural details, instead, can dedicate themselves to discovering such typical flowers and plants of the place as orchids, which blossom between May and June. The Sibillini mountains are rich with magic and mysteries, and with medieval and Renaissance legends concerning magicians, knights and wizards, such as the story of Guerrin Meschino (“Wretched Guerrin”), who tried and learn about his ancestors through the Sibylline answers; lovers of fairy tales shall have to venture to the Sibyl’s cavern or to Pilate Lake, which are very close to the lodge.
