Marche in Montagna

Mountains province of Ancona

Monte Conero (572 m.) is part of the Umbrian-Marchigiano Apennines and is located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is the most important Italian promontory on the Adriatic Sea, after that of Gargano in Puglia region. The coast of this mountain is called the Conero Riviera and the Conero Regional Natural Park extends over the entire promontory.

Monte San Vicino (1,480 m.) is part of the Umbrian-Marchigiano Apennines, located between the provinces of Ancona and Macerata. Its shape is particular: from the south it looks like the hump of a camel, from the north it is tricuspid and from the east/west it looks like an inactive volcano. On the top of the mountain there is a large iron cross. Monte San Vicino and the surrounding area are part of the Monte San Vicino and Monte Canfaito Regional Nature Reserve.

Monte Rogedano (917 m.) and Monte Puro (1155 m.) are located in the high Esino Valley, to the south of Fabriano and delimit, with their northern slopes, the Valleremita valley. The area is full of woods: in particular in the Valleremita valley, near the Hermitage of Val di Sasso, there are beech trees located at a relatively low altitude.

Monte Strega (1,278 m.) is also part of the Umbrian-Marchigiano Apennines. It is located in the municipality of Sassoferrato, east of Monte Catria, on the border between the provinces of Ancona, Pesaro-Urbino and Perugia. At the top is a metal cross.

Monte Sant’Angelo (752 m.): located almost on the border with Umbria, it is located in the municipality of Arcevia. On sunny days you can enjoy the view over the Republic of San Marino, Montefeltro, Monte Nerone, Monte Strega, Monte Catria, Monte Cucco, Monti Sibillini and Gran Sasso.
