The seat of the Public Market - or Herb Market - is of ancient origin: built in 1862, it shows more than one element in common with the famous "Fish shop of Pesaro". This work of fine workmanship, born as a covered market, has since then always fulfilled this role. Located in a very favorable position, as it runs alongside the historic city walls, the Market area gives life to an historically and culturally important location. On more than one occasion renovation works were needed: at the end of World War II to repair damages caused by the same war and to the late '90s to reclaim the evocative caves, site in the basement, made even more precious by the presence of cruciform pillars and pointed arches.
